Looks like things are looking up

Okay, so now I have finally crossed the first hurdle - getting promoted. (though I should've done it last year - no use harping on it anyway). So here are my results

Chem
P1: 18+1/30
P1: 42/80
Total: 61/110
Percantage : 55% (written by marker)
Grade: C

Physics
P1: 14/20
P2: 48/80
Total: 62/100
Percentage: 62%
Grade: B

Econs
Section A: 21/30
Section B: 9/25

Math
Paper: 62/100
Percentage: 62%

GP
Paper 1: 23/50
Paper 2: 18/50

So the verdict is out I get to promote 99.99%.

Let's break it down now

Chem isn't my forte and I was thinking it might do better than physics as I thought the paper appeared easier in comparison. But surprisingly & not surprisingly its still weak. Need to work on it more, I do not know what would've happened if my Chem teacher did not give us hints...hmmm a point to ponder about. MCQ was decent, but long answered questions always get me. I didn't manage to finish the last 5 MCQ questions and the guesses that I took were all wrong - time constraint - something else to work on. I need more practice on long ended it seems arghhh

Physics was my strong subject last year, with C/B almost w/o proper studying for last year. This year it's still a B! wonder what's wrong...hmmmmm. MCQs were fine but I think I didn't manage to finish all the questions too, says a lot. Long ended questions got me again as usual. I didn't manage to complete the paper, riddled with mistakes and some questions I just blanked out. Need to calm down more during exams, but speed up more on doing it, almost a paradoxical situation.

Econs, what can I say.... Section A was considered well done, but I'm not really satisfied yet with the marks, lost 1 or 2 simple questions along the way. Section B was horrifying. The first essay I thought it was fine but it seems it was half baked to the teacher and we won't be getting back our scripts! How am I suppoed to consult the teacher. Damn you schl. The second essay was totally screwed up. I didn't know which two essay to write which was on my mind. I ended up writing the wrong one, kinda explains the poor marks  I was awarded. Th teacher even bothered to say 'YOU ARE NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTION WITH THE CORRECT POINTS, MISCONCEPTION' Damn I knew it already once I walked out of the exam hall. She's right anyway. Fire away.

Maths was  total surprise. I am still kind of shell shocked. I was thinking everyone was going to do better than me because they seem to be talking about answers enthusiastically after examinations while I listened to their fervent discussions to see how many mistakes I made. I even went so far as to say I was going to fail. In fact, what happened was the total opposite, so they want to murder me because I got top. This was the same feeling I had for Mid-years :S. Its still a B though, could've got an A if I managed my time better and did not do 1 question wrongly. I even managed technically 'smoke' through 2 questions. Idk, I need to work more on maths. The paper actually felt really tough.

Lastly GP was a major disappointment. I was expecting a C or B, at least a D. Ened up with an S grade. My whole class didn't do well majorly except for 1 or 2 students who scored content wise. This time my content wasn't that good compared to MYE. My essay continues to be my glaring weakness with the teacher mentioning that only 1 point I stated was relevant when I wrote 5 points! So I really have to work on it ehh. Comprehension was  a shell shocker, not only did I not even score for AQ, my summary fared poorly. It was a hard paper after all. But my friend's friend's class generally got better marks for AQ. I am tempted to put the blame on my class's markers. What am I going to say to my tuition teacher? Should've done more paper 2 practices.....

Anyhow I generally did okay-ish, but as Kairos student (read: retained) I am rather unsatisfied with my results, but it should be the true reflection of my handwork although I feel its not. One thing I still did not understand is the fact that the school would not be returning to us the examination paper. By doing so, they are restricting our learning as we cannot learn from the mistakes that we committed during our major exams and this really goes against the motto of our school 'continuous improvement'. I really hope they would reconsider, if not I would like to raise this point with the school committee.
